You start Shin Megami Tensei in the dream world. In this dream you meet (and customize) many of the characters that will join you on quest later on in the game. There is even a beautiful naked woman (though totally censored and pixelated) who wants to spend the rest of her life with you (score!). You awake to your computer telling you that there will be utter annihilation if you don’t recruit little devils to save the world (story of my life).
This game is unlike any other RPG I have ever played.

This game is unlike any other RPG I have ever played. I originally played this game on the SNES and was very pleased with the refreshing storyline depth and the maturity of the overall game. The stat system makes it easy to customize
your character on level up. The music is fun and helps immerse you in the story. The graphics aren’t too shabby considering the time the game was created (if you squint the whole time you are playing it totally looks like you are playing a modern game…well almost).
My absolute favourite part of the game is the Demons. Besides beating them the old-fashioned RPG way you can also talk to them. You are asked a series of questions by the demon. If you answer correctly you can have them join your party or they will give you something good. If you answer wrong they will attack you. As the game progresses you can eventually combine your demons and create stronger demons to fight with.
Most of this game is played in the first person. The movement is much like that in the NES Bards Tale or Might and Magic. The battles are in the first person and are turn based. Outside movement is just like real life…you turn into a blue triangle with a circle head and see an overview of the city you are in.
This game is a lot of fun to play. There are times in the game where you can chose who to save, which in turn effects the game play (if you choose not to save someone they won’t be able to join your party later). This adds to the replay value of the game.
