Sundog: Frozen Legacy is a very solid game, and a good choice to download. While this 1984 strategy game was released years ago, it seems to never get old. The purpose is to barter, buy and sell special possessions and commodities, while at the same time stay alive and running from fighting certain thugs and space pirates. The game is based around the character of Zed, who is a man in early adulthood, and has been living life as a slave in glass mines.
He inherited his ship (the SunDog) from his dead uncle. Zed's freedom will also be inherited, if he can reach the goal of fulfilling his uncle's contract to start a religious ordered colony on a planet called Jondd, where the
game begins and ends.
To start the game, you are given only a few (what is called credits) or the game's idea of currency. Players must find the colony and begin the pursuit of completing Zed's uncle's contract. In the game the player has to travel among the cities located in the Sun Dog, and all of the parts contain different places such as banks, restaurants, pubs, etc. Every step that you take as Zed, you are likely to come across a beggar, hawker, or mugger. The object of this game is to supply the colony with the items it needs. You have to get the goods. You are initially only provided with a few. You need to involve yourself in different barters and transfers of commodities. You, as the player can figure out what is selling, what is being sold, how to buy and sell commodities, etc. But overall, you need to develop enough profit to buy everything the colony needs in order to create the religious order Zed's uncle wanted from his contract.
Most importantly, as you travel throughout the game, the most urgent and important "commodities" that the colony needs are cryogens which are colonists, frozen below 150 degrees Celsius in technicality. These are not able to be purchased, but you need to find them on neighboring starts.
The graphics of this game are old fashioned, but very fitting and make the experience more realistic as a gamer. For their time, they are excellent. The game is fun, and never gets old. You can play it over and over again. The game has been awarded many times in the past, and after playing it the common player will know why.
