Ultima VIII: Pagan is the eighth installment in the Ultima series of games that became popular in the 90s. It is a role playing game that is set in a fantasy world. The game will really be appreciated by those who have experienced playing any of the seven Ultima games that came before Pagan. Those who have played Ultima VII will be the ones who will enjoy this game the most because the story picks up from where the seventh game left off.
You will play the role of Avatar who has been thrown by the Guardian into the sea of Pagan. Guardian plans on destroying the Earth and Britannia. After Avatar has been thrown into the Pagan Sea through a portal he loses consciousness. After he wakes up after being rescued by a fisherman, he will witness an execution in the town.
The goal of the avatar is to become the Titan of Ether by mastering the magic of the five Titans of Pagan. The five Titans of Pagan has one major domain of each element: Water, Fire, Air and Earth. The fifth Titan is an expert on the magic of Thaumaturgy. Becoming the Titan of Ether is the only way of escaping the Pagan.
The Avatar must
collect four artifacts form the four Titans with the powers of the elements. Collecting these items will make the Avatar strong enough to enter the Ethereal plane and to fight against the Titans. After defeating the Titans, you can now rebuild the gate that will allow you to escape Pagan and re-enter the Britannia.
The game has improved graphics although it is far smaller than the games that came before it. Also instead of being able to control a group of hero in the game, you only have control of Avatar. You will use the mouse to control the actions of the lone hero.
Many parts of the game involve platform adventure— running and jumping through different platforms but there are also some action parts that will have you killing off enemies. The game is really action-packed and is very exciting to play.
I suggest you download this game and see if it’s something you would enjoy. It is a well-made game that will allow you to have fun for many, many hours. I enjoyed this game when I was younger and I still like the game now. I don’t think anyone would find this game boring or bad.
