There are very few limitations, so your creative juices will flow for months getting that perfect story complete. The templates included allow you to see your potential, but I knew what I was getting into because of curse of the azure bonds, etc. I was twelve, sixteen years ago when I first
fell in love with the SSI games. Well this game editor lets you relive those experiences from the game designer side, very cool for those of us who always preferred to be the DM. The game uses the overhauled graphics, which games like Pools of Darkness used, that SSI implemented in 1992. This was a relief for me.
The biggest draw back to the game is that it takes time and dedication. Frustration and lack of creativity can jam up even the best DM. But… search, "FRUA", on a search engine will yield several sites dedicated to Unlimited Adventures. Support, screen shots, scenarios, music, etc. can be found among one of the many fan sites dedicated to this powerful and fun editing tool.
Creating a good story is difficult, that’s why people get paid a very fair salary to do it professionally. So practice, read fantasy novels (Bob Salvatore’s Drizzt, need I say more) and Ender’s Game by Orson Scott Card, watch movies and draw inspiration from other sources, recycling is always cool. Don’t get discouraged if your first creation isn’t that great, and make another one. As I said people are sharing games from this classic on the net, and they too can give you ideas.
Be prepared to spend a lot of time and effort, but when you finally get the response that your adventure was awesome, you will get a second wind of energy to make the next one. Dungeons and Dragons was always awesome and when SSI brought the rules to the PC they revolutionized computer RPG’s. Even the newer games are reminiscent of these wonderful beginnings, so dig in and find your roots with a tool that will allow you to liken yourself to some of the greatest Computer DMs of the world.
