Black Gold – Oil Imperium is a business management simulation where you are managing the unique oil business. This game is a classic game that is not solely based on being politically correct when it comes to the economic model, unique premise or even realism, it is more dedicated to being fun. The game doesn’t have all the complicated details that can make or break most simulation games.
Each level requires different strategic thought to get completion of the game. With the selection of four different goals you are able to select the difficulty level you would like.
With Black Gold – Oil Imperium each month will represent a turn giving it a turn based format for the game. During each turn you will be able to choose with action to take from a wide variety of actions ranging from the mundane field which is like the buy and sell of oil, to the exotic which is like sabotaging your opponent’s oil fields. With each level there are special events that could occur randomly. This can include delivery of contracts that will obligate you to provide a certain amount of oil that has been agreed upon for certain regions. The great realism that comes into place is the action packed sequences that can include drilling of oil, laying pipelines
and fighting oil fires that happen. These can be avoided by hiring another person to take care of them, but it can be fun and a bit challenging to do it on your own.
There is a multiplayer mode where you will be competing against each other trying to further along in the game faster than the other with more sales. You still require a lot of strategic thought to do this and still have a lot of options to choose from to get further along faster than your opponent. The game can be quite difficult as it does require a lot of thought, but once you figure out the best tactics to go by it does become far less challenging.
If you enjoy quite strategic simulation games but are tired of the regular manager simulations this game would be a great change for you. You are not only running the oil company financially, but physically as well. This game is a great way to get a more in-depth opinion on the oil driven world. All you need is a little patience and dedication to go quite far in this game.
