Chuck Yeager's Air Combat is an aircraft simulation video game that was released in 1991 by Electronic Arts. It soon became the standard on which figure aircraft sim games were built upon. Chuck Yeager, a former US Air Force pilot who was the first person to break the sound barrier, was a technical consultant for the game. You will hear his voice during missions.
CYAC, for short, has action-packed gameplay, which is based around dog fights. It has a great flight model, which unlike other similar games, factors in altitude and aircraft specifics in order to make the game more realistic.

CYAC, for short, has action-packed gameplay, which is based around dog fights. It has a great flight model, which unlike other similar games, factors in altitude and aircraft specifics in order to make the game more realistic. Yeager’s extensive flying experience in each of the planes featured in the game helped the developers make the game realistic. Accurately depicting the uniqueness
of each aircraft in the simulator makes flying each plane a different experience, just as it is in real life.
You are able to choose one of six planes to use in combat: the F-4E Phantom II, F-86E Sabre, Fw.190A-8, MiG-21MF Fishbed, MiG-15 Fagot, and the P-51D Mustang. The game’s Artificial Intelligence controls 12 other aircraft. Some of the aircrafts you are supposed to shoot down, while with others your mission is to protect them.
CYAC lets you choose one of three types of fly modes to play. The Free Flight mode basically is a practice mode to let you get used to the controls of the game. In that mode you don’t have any enemy planes to deal with. With the Create a Mission mode, you choose one of the six aircrafts available and you go up against AI-controlled aircraft. The Historical Flight mode puts you in the middle of one of three wars: World War II, Korean, and Vietnam. This mode has over 50 missions that are based on actual historical missions.
If you are a beginner, there are some help features available, including unlimited ammunition and easier aiming capabilities. You can also take advantage of the replay feature. You can even change the camera’s angle during the replay, giving you a different perspective on the attack. This lets you see how the enemy snuck up on you.
Chuck Yeager’s Air Combat stands out as one of the first true flight sims. Fans of this genre shouldn’t go without having this game in their collection. CYAC is a must-download.
