F-117 is one of the first flight simulators I can recall playing, next to jet. The hardest part that I can remember about the game is identifying the planes in the beginning of the game. People that have played it will know what I mean. Some of them look similar to one another. The company that made this game put out a couple of other ones that were just as good. One was a tank game and the other a submarine.
In my opinion F-117 was the best out of all three. I remember when you could buy all three of them together in one pack.
The unique characteristics about these games were that they came with a piece of cardboard; it was a template that fitted over the key board to indicate to correct controls. The template is a negative for this game; reason being is that if you download it you will have to figure out the controls for your self. As I recall there are several different keys that perform certain tasks. But still I would let that stop me if you are interested in the game. F-117 is exactly what the name suggests; you can not fly any
other air crafts.
I recommend this game for anyone who grew up with it, like I have, or just likes the stealth fighter. This was a state of the art game during its time. This was before windows flight simulator and USAF. The graphics are kind of blocky but not bad. Sound quality is average considering the game is only a few megabytes. The game was released during the time of the gulf war, but I don’t recall any missions concerning Iraq. I explicitly remember a Libya mission though.
The only bad things about this game are the controls are difficult to use. Especially if you do not have the template for the keyboard that was included with the game. I’m sure you can ether figure it out for your self or find help on the internet. The graphics are old, but what can you expect from a game that is at least 15 years old. And you are limited to only being able to fly one plane. But you can choose your own weapons though.
Rating this game on a zero to five scale, I would give it a 4 out of 5 rating. That may even be a little high considering my bias of course. If you like fight simulators this game may definitely be worth your time.
