I found the Girlfriend construction set (GCS) to be an interesting concept although not a very interesting game. The functions are ok but your choices are somewhat limited.
You start by selecting from a small assortment of girls and give them attributes that you hope will lead you to "the big party". That's the ultimate goal of the sim. You have to go thru a series of dates and events in an attempt to build your relationship with your "girlfriend".
The best strategy is really not much more than simply trail and error of the various activities and answers that are provided.

The best strategy is really not much more than simply trail and error of the various activities and answers that are provided. I found that the easiest way to complete the game was to pick fairly easy girls and set her standards
fairly low. Give her ample attention and she'll put out but it takes a bit of doing to get invited to the big party. And that's the only way you can complete the game is to attend that party.
The higher end girls are more an exercise in rejection than a simulator. In fact the game is more like an adventure game than a relationship simulator. Enough about the game play, now on to sound. The age of the game shows in its basic sound and music it would have been nice if the designers would have added more variety and maybe some tracks as well as the sound effects. The graphics could have been way better even for the year GCS was released. The actions and the responses could have had more variation as well as more intuition as the designers claimed it would have.
This game was released under the guise of being a social interaction simulation which to me it failed. I have found better simulations and interaction in games such as "tale of the three sisters" and "Angel" than in the game and that's ultimately what it is a game. The goal of a good simulation should be to offer a good range of both tasks and rewards. Some of the newer programs offer a much better interface and well as intuitive responses from the program, they do what the game claims to do learn the player and respond in an appropriate manner with words and actions that they have "learned" from the player. And in this it ultimately failed as all it takes to complete the game is patience and a willingness to try every option till the right one works. A good effort but could have been much better.
