Game Review (written by Chrissi) Added on: 01/27/2008
MicroProse designed a game in 1996 based around a race simulator known as Grand Prix 2. The game was taken up a FIA license featuring Formula One 1994 including all the circuits, teams, drivers, and even the cars. There were several races that were not allowed including tobacco and beer sponsors so the cars had been painted with liveries. One of these races would happen to be the 1994 French Grand Prix.
Grand Prix 2 was one of the first games to utilize third dimensional texture mapping as well as SVGA graphics.

Grand Prix 2 was one of the first games to utilize third dimensional texture mapping as well as SVGA graphics. This allowed the game to get a large amount of hype in the gaming world for these more advanced graphical features.
There are so many great features included into Grand Prix 2 that made its

fame quickly. The overall design of the game was just so astounding hooking gamers in quickly. With your cars being able to have several failures in the engine, gearbox, and electronics it took on an even more realistic feel. There were also detailed set-ups for your cars that were very accurate and have a lot of attention to all the details involved.
With this game being solely based on racing you wouldn’t expect it to be as thrilling that it actually is, but overall the game is one of the most exciting racing simulations I have ever experienced. Throughout the game you will experience many circuits all being very realistic to the Formula 1 racing circuits that took place in 1994.
You will get to view the game from the cockpit of your car. There will be external views but they will only be utilized in replays or various demonstrations that have been placed throughout the game.
During the game you will get to select from five different skill levels allowing the gamers to get to experience the game whether they are inexperienced or experienced gamers. You can also use the seven driving aids that have been included that may assist you even further in training. This will allow you to get the feel of the game before you get to the higher levels of difficulty.
If you want to play the game in multiplayer mode you can do this on one computer by taking turns or do a linkup. Depending on what you have available will differ what you can do. Either way though you and a friend can take on this fabulous experience and have lots of fun while doing so.
Grand Prix 2 will be the next game that you will soon be highly addicted to. Over the years the game is still one of the most popular computer racing simulations available in the world of gaming. With true fans still playing this game after many years you know Grand Prix 2 will surely be a great addition to your gaming collection.
