Jet is one of the most simple games to play and for what it lacks in the area of flight simulation it more than makes up for in gameplay. I originally purchased this game in '88 to play on my Amiga. At first it seemed a bit too easy and did not seem to offer much in the single player mode. However, I soon found that the network interface and the ability to play against friends over a modem made it one of my most played games.

My friends and I played for hours and I learned the fine art of strafing their runways. Once a buddy's jet is shot done he must taxi out and take off from his airfield
and if you can get there first you can shoot him down while he still is on the ground. The small chat bar at the bottom of the screens provided hours of trash talk during the gameplay. We went as far as setting up round robin tournaments and calling each other and simply saying, "Connect now, you’re going down in flames!"
Jet is an excellent multiplayer game and while offers very little in the way of actual flight simulation it gets my highest rating. This is a game that I spent hours playing and found numerous ways to defeat my friends in multiplayer mode, unfortunately I can't help remember when I was once running low on fuel and on a direct route back to my airfield to refuel and my friend sent help in the form of a missile that I was unable to avoid. I got to hear that fatal beeping for miles before it struck and blew me out of the sky.
The small radar shows both the position of enemy aircraft and missiles. While it is possible to avoid missile attacks it is a definite challenge and requires a lot of very drastic changes in altitude, and airspeed. Missiles can not be out run, however, they can not turn and re-attack. Gun mode is interesting and requires leading an enemy aircraft.
Graphics are rough and it is easy to see individual polygons, but the graphics are more than adequate to play and enjoy Jet.
Jet provided me with ours of entertainment and caused me to purchase many other flight simulation and dog fighting games over the years. While many of those games sported excellent graphics and realistic flight control, none ever lived up the simplicity and pure enjoyment of Jet!
