Mega Fortress is your classical bombing run game. What I mean by that is simple: the game revolves around a tactical screen in which you choose from a variety of mission options, this involves strategy, and then you carry out with your bombing run or flight simulator air raids. The neat part of this game rests in that you are not flying your average run of the mill bomber, nor are you flying in the year of World War 1 and 2 for a change.

The neat part of this game rests in that you are not flying your average run of the mill bomber, nor are you flying in the year of World War 1 and 2 for a change. In fact you get to fly a highly experimental B-52 bomber prototype with the latest in stealth technology and fire power, now doesn't that sound like fun!
Another plus of this game is that the war,
or rather the missions, mostly take place in the Middle East (Iraq) and some of the Soviet Union. Why do I consider this a plus, well, if you ask me I get tired of fighting with the Japanese and the Germans in the air, an old game with considerable modern and current war locations seems a lot more interesting to me, personal opinion of course.
Now to move onto some of the plus points and downers:
1) Picking the missions involve strategy and there are objectives to each mission, thus there rests in the game a neat campaign, if you care to play the game as it should be played.
2) The Third person view of the aircraft and the cockpit views are fairly well drawn for the time period of the games release, good enough that you won't just give up on the game, but the amount of grey and bland colors they have used in the game does add some bothersome and confusing graphic dimensions. In other words you might ask: "Is that my house I just blew up or is that my target?"
3) This game is based off of a book and for those who like to really get in depth with a game you can have the option of reading the book first, like Tom Clancy Games: Ghost Recon etc. What's the title? Here you go: Dale Brown's "Flight of the Old Dog"
4) The complexity of the controls can make this game more fun for experienced flight sim gamers and a little more challenging to learn for those shoot em up types.
Finally, for those who really care about gaming awards, it must be noted that this game has won a 1991 Game Players PC Excellence Award and the Computer Game Review Golden Triad Award.
