Made for the personal computer running the MS DOS operating system in 1987, Oligopoly is a turn based strategy game that is very similar in style of play to Monopoly, the infamous Parker Brothers board game. In fact, Oligopoly plays like a board game or party game. The object of the game (played by two to six players) is to build up a business empire and become wealthy while forcing other players to quit or declare bankruptcy.
Instead of being made of individual properties like Monopoly, Oligopoly consists of 52 countries, each of which features a single big business.
You start with a set amount of money and have to travel the world, scarfing up businesses as you go.
You are randomly sent to a country at the beginning of each turn, which begins in the boardroom. Like Monopoly, if the company in the country is unowned, you can buy it. You will have to pay the owner of the company a fee if you land on a country with a business that already has an owner. That is the basic play of the game, but there are
