Game Review (written by Eric) Added on: 01/10/2008
One of the most interesting times in American history would be the period during World War II. This is the reason so many movies, books and games are based on this period of time. Pacific Strike is a game that is also based on this period. Sadly, the game lacks the amazing details (historically and graphically) as the other video game titles that were also released in the 90s. This is probably why Pacific Strike is the lesser known flight simulation game.
Pacific Strike is a flight simulation game that will have you controlling different aircrafts during World War II.
The game is based on the Pacific Air War and combines a good dose of history into the game. The game is similar in story as the game 1942 Pacific Air War.
Despite the success of 1942 Pacific Air War game, this game has better good animated graphics. The 1942 Pacific Air War had a better game play though which is why it is considered a true classic and still played by many PC gamers to this day. Pacific Strike does not seem to aim for accuracy in its graphical details of the game such as the plane’s cockpit and such which can turn off gamers who enjoy playing World War 2 games for the sense of history and realism that they provide.

Pacific Strike, you will play an American pilot and will start after the bombing of the Pearl Harbor. You will perform strike or escort mission in this game. You will fly the aircraft and bomb out navy vessels, enemy aircrafts and others. The only advantage of Pacific Strike over other flight simulation games released in the 90s is that it gave gamers the liberty of choosing what aircraft to use in a mission.
If you are looking at just playing a great flight simulation/shooters game then Pacific Strike is great. If you want a historically correct game that featured realistic flight cockpits and scenarios then you may want to pass up on this game. If you can overlook the graphics inaccuracies and other minor flaws of the game it’s still worth a download and it can still provide you with countless hours of gaming fun.
