I remember playing this game a long time ago back when I was in middle school. This is a game brought to you by Digital Illusions, who released this game back in 1994. I don't remember too much about it though. I remember that you were the captain in charge of a PT Boat, a boat that was used in World War II to fight against larger ships. John F Kennedy was a commander of one of these boats; the PT 109 (There is also a game released called PT 109.
This is the sequel to this game.)
Pretty much, the point of this game is to go out, hunt down, and destroy all enemy targets. These targets could range anywhere from enemy boats, to submarines, to even planes. To fight off these enemies, you have at your disposal anywhere from guns, to torpedoes, to depth charges to knock out those pesky submarines.
I remember the graphics to be not too bad from a game this old. The background is easily the worst part, you're pretty much looking at a white sky, which is sitting upon pretty much a blue sea. It can make getting lost pretty easy. Luckily there is a map button there so you can keep track of your location.
Also on the bottom of the screen, there is a lot of information there to keep you on your way. There are gauges for speed, and other things. You can find buttons to use anything from torpedoes, to flares. You can even use smokescreens so you can sneak up on large ships that could otherwise tear you up. There is a radar, so you can keep track of the ships around you, there is a overview of your ship, which tells you if any part is damaged. This interface is really intuitive. It shouldn't take long for you to pick out how to move and steer the ship, and to take out your enemies.
I remember that I could play this game for hours on end. I don't think I was very good, but I could usually knock out a few boats before getting my butt handed down to me. This is not a game where you can just cruise through. There are a ton of missions, many of which mirror real life missions back in WWII. I would recommend this game for anyone who loves boat simulators, war simulators, gamers who love any kind of historical game, or anyone looking for a great game to play.
