When I first played this game I was amazed by the complexity of this simulation! It basically simulates the U.S. health care system. This game was created by a company called MAXIS. MAXIS has made other simulation games such as this, for example, Sim Ant, Sim City, Sim Earth, and Sim Life. A lot of the information that was required to make this game was provided by the Markle Foundation.
When this game came out it was unpopular because Sim Health was considered a dry, boring complex game.
One downside to this game is that it doesn’t have, as any MAXIS game fan knows, a tendency to integrate puns into their games. Sim health ran on DOS and thanks to this site now you can download it as of many other fun and exiting games that you wouldn’t be able to buy at almost any store these days.
As of many of MAXIS's early DOS games this game has simple graphics. Look on the good side! The graphics are a whole lot better than ACII graphics! This game was fun for quite while for me. I’m not sure if this game is for everyone. I have a friend of mine who really likes shooters like Doom and Quake and he absolutely
hated this game. On the other hand I liked this game, but I’m more of the hard, dry simulation kind of person.
I did a little research on this game and found out that it was developed by Thinking Tools. Sim Health was originally released in June first 1994. It was rated for all audiences. Duh! It’s a health system game. This game was meant to harness the hot topic of the Clinton administration which was healthcare in the United States of America. Maybe we should give this to our president and government officials and see how good they are at balancing the system! He-He! As in may other sim Maxis games the player has to tweak the parameters of the game to make a balanced system. This task is not easy because you are constantly dealing with changing situations.
One of the neat things about this game is that you can go into so much detail about the health care system. For example you can create customizable healthcare plans. You need to be quick with your math to be successful at this game. Often I felt like I was doing my taxes! Like that isn’t enough math! I hope you’ll enjoy this game! Have Fun
