Game Review (written by Skoolkid2) Added on: 03/17/2007
Now tower is a very interesting game, it has ok graphics, however these are by today’s standards very basic. However it has a kind of power to it, it has nothing to do with the graphics used or anything like that.
Its all to do with how you play, the gameplay is very clever, there are many different types of aircraft, and several airports to choose from. When you are playing the game you start off with one plane in your airspace, after about half an hour you have 10-20 planes in your airspace, and not only that once told to land they can miss their approach or not want to land at all, they might want a low approach, this all means you have to be on your toes all the time giving you a feel of how a real controller must feel on a busy day.

all means you have to be on your toes all the time giving you a feel of how a real controller must feel on a busy day.
There are some downers though, the ground traffic do sometimes taxi on the same taxiway in different directions and get stuck, however this just means that you have to be even more aware of where the aircraft are. The way you input the instructions is very easy to pick up and you can position all of the panels etc to where you want them. You can also choose the time that you are controlling the tower, for example three o'clock in the morning, I’m not sure how many B707s you will get landing at that time, but you can change the number of aircraft that contact you every minute or what ever. For example you can have 2 aircraft every 3 minutes or 4 aircraft every 10 minutes. The views you get are very original and show you how difficult the job of an air traffic controller is. If you make a mistake there’s a box that pops up saying that you cant have this or you shouldn’t do that, however this doesn’t bother me as you can pick the timing up very easily and know when aircraft are going to crash or the separation on the runway is not going to be sufficient.
The help manual is very useful and helps enormously, without them the game would be almost impossible to play, even though some of the combinations are quite easy to guess, for example you would type, EFG256, TP, which translates as, EFG256, taxi to parking.
If you like games where you are in the driving seat, controlling a whole airport, then I can’t think of a better game than this one, it has everything and is very user friendly.
