Wargames Construcgtion Kit III: The Age of Rifles 1846-1905 is primarily a game editor so that the user can express his creativity and can improve
on the shortcomings he has found in other games’ scenarios. However, there are a few pre-made scenarios for the user to play in this kit, just in case he wants a break from the rigors of scene design. The pre-made campaigns feature battles from the Franco Prussian War and the American Civil War, which both fell into the development of rifling. For the most part, however, the user will concentrate on making and then playing his own games.
Wargames supports one and two player play, so the gamer can actually create a scenario or campaign and then play it with a friend or opponent found on the Internet. These custom campaigns can be uploaded and downloaded from sites all over the Internet, so it is possible to find some really interesting looks to play. The replayability level of this game is outstanding, because the number of games available is virtually endless.
The units in this game obviously come from the age of rifles. There are units from many specialized nations, such as the Zulus, Japanese, Russians and British. The units available begin with those that were present in the Mexican War and end with the Russo-Japanese War participants in 1905. All the others fall in between. Sometimes, such as in the case of the American Civil War, the units are not categorized according to the country they belong to, but rather the faction. The user is able to customize almost all facets of the units available to him, be it fire power or aggressiveness in the field. This is just another of the many aspects of Wargames that allows for a massive replay factor and makes this game a highly recommended download.
