Game Review (written by Daddy_darren) Added on: 10/07/2006
Actua Soccer is one of the best football games ever made as it was one of the first to bring 3D environment to PC football games. Its unbelievable true likeness to real life and excellent commentary from Andy Davies adds to the excitement produced by Actua Soccer.
Despite the game being released in 1995 the Gremlin team used the 3D effects very well and with many different high quality camera angles makes it a good experience despite it not quite reaching the levels of games such as Fifa’95 and such.

Despite the game being released in 1995 the Gremlin team used the 3D effects very well and with many different high quality camera angles makes it a good experience despite it not quite reaching the levels of games such as Fifa’95 and such. Although with the ability to adjust the crowd, sound effects and stadium effects you feel as thought you are in control of the game you play and you are actually part of the game creating the

atmosphere of a real life match!
Game-play again was not the greatest of Actua soccer’s many attributes but it would score quite highly in my books considering it was a game of 95 and I suppose back then it would have been one of the best even finding myself playing it for hours on end. The game was one of the more challenging football games of its generation but after a good few hours practice you could pretty much master the finer arts of the game and start really challenging for the league titles! A few bad points about the game are that it can become so ever frustrating when you opponent is one on one with your goalkeeper and there is not much way of controlling his sometimes very erratic goalkeeping and kicks as he would occasionally spoon the ball straight into the stands. Another very annoying thing would be that sometimes as you bear down on goal ready to put your team into the lead or make a miraculous come back the camera angle would just switch to another in the middle of your shot and most of the time make you completely miss the shot by about 100 yards!
The game is designed for 1-4 players using either a keyboard or joystick depending on your preferred choice. There are 2 different game modes arcade and simulation and league or cup modes which truly test your skill and determination to overcome the computers artificial intelligence. With 44 national sides in the game each containing 22 real players which 8 different individual skill factors which had a dramatic effect during the game Actua Soccer was truly one of the best games ever to be released and paved the way for many football games to develop into the games we have around today.

This game I would recommend anyone. It’s easy to figure out and it’s a very real and believing background and pictures for a real soccer game. Gives a 3D view to the sport soccer. You can customize your team, cups and league. This game gives you the "you-are-there" feeling. This may help a soccer player understand the field and what to do in certain situations. I recommend to play this even if you don’t like soccer.
