In Baseball Mogul, you can choose to be a general manager of any MLB team (but for some reason the Rangers are the Quick Reactors). You have control over personnel, signing free agents, setting the lineup, trades, setting prices (tickets and concessions - price of beer, hot dogs, and ice cream), and managing expenses (farm system, scouting, medical staff).
It's quite addictive. The easiest teams to play are the big money franchise, like the Yankees, that have a high cash flow. The only free agent at the beginning of your dynasty is Andre Dawson, so if you want to improve your team immediately you need to trade.

The only free agent at the beginning of your dynasty is Andre Dawson, so if you want to improve your team immediately you need to trade. You can offer players or money. During a trade, one of the best ways to see what
the other team wants is selecting their player and hitting get counter-offer. You can also offer cash for players. That can be the best way to get good minor league prospects for cheap. Sometimes the computer GM asks for an arm and a leg and sometimes they offer good deals. During the season, the computer will offer you trades. Watch those closely because they often try to get your best players for nothing at all.
The computer will simulate the game and you can have the season progress 1 day, 1 week, 1 month, half season, or rest of season. I usually choose 1 month. If you do that or choose more time to progress the season, be sure to use an injury contingency (you'll find it in the menus). I prefer a month because it gives you a more accurate view of how your players are doing. Most of your changes will need to be made in the bullpen.
As the season goes on, you'll also be able to see how your prospects are doing in AAA. Keeping a young player in AAA will help them develop. But some players can have an immediate impact.
There isn't a trade deadline and free agents become available during the season. I've signed players at the end of the season and right before the playoffs that have helped me win. You have first crack at all available free agents on the first day before the season starts.
I've had a career go for 20 years and the game-play starts to deteriorate. The pitchers become almost unhittable and a .250 average would probably win the batting title.
There are end of the year awards given for rookie of the year, CY Young, MVP, and some Gold Gloves. At the end of the World Series, advance 1 day, and then check Headlines.
