The nearest I can think of any other game coming close to this wasn't until the Sega Saturn was released with the popular Athlete Kings game even then the athletics
genre of the game wasn't as entertaining as California Games is. I just think that it would be great to bring a newer version of this classic game forward onto a newer console like the Nintendo Wii. If it was brought out on the Wii it would be more like a party game and give friends and family hours upon hours of enjoyment and would certainly be worth paying money out for as it was all them years ago.
Despite the age of the game in my opinion it is still one of the best multiplayer arcade games of its genre. It is quick simple and user friendly to play and it doesn't drag on for hours like some games nowadays it can be over in no time so you can fit in a game with your friends almost anytime.
