Game Review (written by Angelus22) Added on: 10/14/2006
Extreme Warfare Revenge, reviewed by Leigh Gabriel.
In short, for any budding wrestling fan or budding promoter, this is the game you need, contrary to popular belief this is not the same as the GM mode in Smackdown VS Raw.
This is a full, interactive wrestling promotion sim, from suspensions, drug addictions and playing up to the press, you are in control of the show, including angles (storylines), matches, interviews, participants, everything, EWR features rosters from all over the world, including the WWE, NWA: TNA, ROH, to all the subdivisions of the NWA (Georgia, Cyberspace so on), and the divisions and promotions in Japan, Mexico, Britain (FWA is not there, but Mark Sloan, Paul Birchill and Jonny Storm are in there, along with many of the FWAs rising stars).

Sadly,
Extreme Warfare RevengeExtreme Warfare Revenge
my promotion, The ASWA (Accrington Stanley Wrestling Alliance) is not in there, but we can all dream, one of the many decent features is the fact, that provided you've got a lot of time on your hands, it does allow for wrestler pictures, so, get googling and get your pictures, and upload them onto the game, and away you go, AJ Styles will be the AJ Styles, and because of the numerous promotions, with file editor available from the start menu, if you want a dream match between Chris Benoit, Chris Daniels, AJ Styles and Kurt Angle, you can get it.
Now, back to the actual game, the game is based over a year (which is infinite) of, depending on your promotions size, shows (or later, TV shows) and the famous PPVs, and obviously, you are expected to dole out matches accordingly (Austin Aries won’t risk his health in a hell in the cell match, on a small Tuesday night show) but, he will be more likely to do so on a big PPV (Vain sod), obviously, the weekly shows are a perfect forum for building the storyline, and also for showcasing your smaller stars (not midgets), then the PPV is the time to rip it up, and finish, or add more hatred to a storyline, as said, in the Aries statement, your roster will agree to do most matches, but will occasionally refuse to take too big bump (stunt), onto the bumps, you can adjust your promotion’s risk level, so if you want a family friendly show like the old WCW, you can, or a garbage filled, blood splattered match like in CZW or the old ECW, you can also do that, the risk to wrestler’s health will be a factor though if you are gonna have them falling off scaffolding night in, night out, and, once you get big enough, you will get the option of television deals, but most networks will not allow too high risk levels, the networks that do allow higher risk, usually don’t get as high ratings as the networks like USA or spike tv.
Your wrestlers do of course age, and will retire from year to year, but you have the option to take them on behind the scenes, e.g. trainers, writers, bookers etc. and there are the spoof internet pages, which give you up to date news and rumours much like obsessed with wrestling (cheap plug again, call me mick foley), and of course, as stated before, it covers the numerous addictions a wrestler could have e.g. painkillers, and also has media references, film spots, radio appearances, and whatever said wrestler has said about your company or its roster, derogatory or otherwise, you also have the option to put original wrestlers into the game, so if you ever fancied being world champion, you can. And there are numerous updates available on the internet, featuring, updated wrestlers, promotions, tv networks, sponsorship deals, but all of these are customizable, so if you wanted to be on bbc and be sponsored by Bob the Builder, you can (dunno why you'd want to).
All in all, this is, for a wrestling fan, a very Championship Manager type fun wrestling game made by Adam Ryland, it is not too hard on your pcs graphics capability as it is mostly words in a spreadsheet type format, and it is extremely addictive as long as you have a good imagination, you don’t even need a knowledge of wrestling to enjoy this game, but for ratings, an imagination is a must.

The game has been around for years, but I still find myself addicted to it. You'd have to have a love for professional wrestling to truly appreciate and enjoy it, but once you start playing you will find it hard to stop.

I loved everything about this game. It allows total control of any size federation, or you can create your own fed. The game is loaded with info and tons of research went into setting everything up. Great job to all involved. If you don’t have this game get it, if you have it, play it.
