F1 WCE is a newer version of the VROOM! This game is based around arcade style of game-play. It offers a lot of tracks now taken off the F1 calendar and is an awesome game with a lot of replay value. The interface is simple and graphics are nothing special. But remember that this game was released more than 10 years ago so was state of the art for its time. For some reason not all of the modes seem to work though.
The game even lets you make pit stops although they are not necessary.
The buttons for the pit stop are fairly tricky as it does not tell you which button is for what purpose. You are left to figure that
out on your own. There is no refueling during pit stops (only tire changes) and you can select what sort of tire you want on your car.
At the initial screen you have a choice of settings. These include transmission, types and Aero. Softer tires have better grip whereas harder tires offer more speed. Note that the extra grip/speed is actually noticeable during game-play and is not a purely vain option. Same goes with aero, the higher down force setting actually does provide you with more grip and conversely, straighter rear wings provide you with more straight line speed. Initially you are better off selecting soft tires with maximum down force aero setting and you can go for a higher speed later once you are accustomed to the dynamics of the car.
The various tracks all have their own character, some are high speed and fairly hard to go thought without crashing whilst others are simplistic and straight forward. A couple of corners on some tracks are extremely tricky and are almost impossible to take at full throttle without prior application of brakes. The point of the whole game is to overtake other cars which give you bonus points. Once you have completed the 18 or so tracks, a strange thing happens, you play in a corrupted version of the last track (Australia) as a bonus and you can barely see anything. The game ends after this and shows your final score.
