Game Review (written by Bstraus) Added on: 10/08/2006
I played this game as a kid and absolutely loved it. It is one of the few games that generate realistic stats while playing full seasons. Usually you end up with 100 home runs 200 RBIs and a batting average of over 400. That can happen with this game but it is rare. It's not easy to hit a homerun. One of my favorite aspects of the game is the realistic pitch counts. Pitchers can throw one hundred pitches before tiring out, something rarely seen in baseball games of today.

One of my favorite aspects of the game is the realistic pitch counts. Pitchers can throw one hundred pitches before tiring out, something rarely seen in baseball games of today. You have to remember though, this isn't an arcade baseball game, it is a realistic baseball simulation.
Trades have to be even on both sides though for them to happen, and they don't

happen immediately. You have to sim through a full day for the other team to decide if the trade is fair. It makes sense. There would always be a waiting period for trades to occur, for the other team to decide. It can't happen immediately and I love this game because of that.
There are downsides however. Pitchers can only have a maximum of four pitches while other games offer many more types of pitches. Another great thing is how players develop with time. Their stats of the previous season and age make them better or worse the next season, as well as how injured they are.
Injuries that, I think, are dealt with are the best part in this game. Most baseball games, if the guy is injured, he’s out until he’s better. That happens here too, but also guys can be injured on a percentage scale, and still play, but their stats will be reduced by that percentage, a wonderful system that allows players to play hurt. It takes them longer to heal when you play them hurt, but it keeps them in the lineup, something that no other baseball game I have ever played does.
Overall, I think, although the graphics and sounds suck, it is one of the most funniest, most realistic baseball games of all time. They have really focused on making everything realistic rather than easy like arcade style baseball games. This isn't a game just to play exhibition games either, this game is made for season long stretches and playoff stretches. It’s development over the season that is important in this game and I suggest you give it a try.

This game is my hall of fame without a doubt! I love picking the worst teams and getting them to the world series within 5 seasons, of course using only 26 game seasons.
