Game Review (written by Bbbarney) Added on: 12/24/2007
Grand Prix Circuit is a wonderful game the 1980's and early 1990's. I only played with the keyboard and found the best way to go round corners was to use the turn and up keys alternately. Also important to avoid having a rear in collision by tail gating cars on your approach to corners. The cars will tend to zig zag in front of you and you need to sell them dummies. In the Japan circuit there is a tight left hander that you need to watch out for as the cars break so hard in front of you that you rear end them before you know what’s happened so remember to move to drive on the right and then just before the braking zone flick left and pass in the breaking zone.

braking zone flick left and pass in the breaking zone. I always found that accuracy was very important with this game as running wide loses you a lot of speed as the car seems to be in a field of toffee not to mention the damage setting. Going completely off the track is not a good idea as you lose all speed and you lose all speed the car just goes slowly until you get back on track. All the other cars race past and you spend ages trying to catch up. I like starting from the back of the grid and working my way through the field. Gear changes can be manual or auto, for children it is a good simple starter game where they can start on auto and avoid the complexities of some more modern games with flashing lights etc.
The colors and graphics are good by modern standards! The best cars to use are Ferrari or better still the Mclaren and I think the Williams are ok. Driving slower cars is a bit of a waste as you just watch yourself getting past on the straights and it is tricky to pass on the corners. Don't hit the bridge at Suzuki slow down a bit first.
In this games do not crash, you cannot keep going and get fixed as easily as later games and it is not easy to regain lost time once you are back on track. You can choose from Practice, Individual race or Championship, The champ series never worked on my old PC, and Practice gets boring but individual races starting from the back are my recommendation for the most fun. If you want to have fun and interest I highly recommend downloading this game!
