Hockey League Simulator 2

Genre: Sports    |     Year: 1992    |     Publisher: Bethesda Softworks    |     Developer: Bethesda Softworks
Game Review 1 (written by Acannon) Added on: 05/28/2007
I can honestly say that “Hockey League Simulator 2” lead to more heated discussions between my friends and me than did many actual NHL games (and, occasionally, seasons too). For its time, it offered unparalleled customization of the league and players, and was by far the most comprehensive hockey league simulator around. It has since been superseded by current games like “NHL Eastside Hockey Manager”, which offer the same basic experience in a more modern package, but it definitely occupies a place in my gaming heart.

(Still, as a testament to its staying power, people are still using "Hockey League Simulator 2" as the basis for their ongoing fantasy leagues, many have been running continuously since the game was first released.)
In terms of gameplay, I can only comment on its use as an NHL simulator, where it excelled, provided some time was spent updating players with each season. Offering the ability to customize league settings, schedules, divisions, teams, and individual players (which was one of the main sources of friction amongst our group; I can remember once when a “customized” Trevor Linden led the league in scoring, maintaining the proper balance between players could be tricky), and then follow one or more seasons, from the draft (also customizable), through to hiring a

coach, the games themselves, trades, farm team management, payroll and finances, etc.
It was an awesome way to pass a few hours before settling down in front of the TV for Hockey Night in Canada.
All in all, it’s a pretty decent game. A piece of nostalgia really, but one that is probably still worth dusting off and revisiting.

Game Review 2 (written by Sjooscar) Added on: 05/26/2007
Hockey League Simulator 2 is a very good game. It’s not like any of the other silly titles as it makes clear of the actual game play in a real life hockey game. It covers some many of the real life moves and tackles and shots. It covers all the real teams and great players.
The graphics are great and colorful! The movements look really life like especially when the players get into rumbles. The game play is fun but quite the same throughout each game which makes the difficulty of the game quite low making it easy to finish or get board of quicker. In my view it beats all of the other NHL games. Many of the tactics of the game can easily learn and this makes tricks easy to pull off to overcome your opponent.
If you want pass your spare time with pleasure and fun you need downloading this wonderful game! You’ll be excited and satisfied!

Very fun game. Worth trying out. Fun features make you spend hours of time in a flash. Great way to spend a cold winter day while waiting for the game to come on, or to relax during the summer while waiting for the season to start.

Good game for a simulator. Game for the person that wants to be a commissioner or general manager.

Old, but classic game! Old school hockeys at its best, decent graphics, nice interface & play menu. A must play, if you like hockey games!

Hockey Simulator 2 is a fantastic resource for hockey lovers everywhere. It lacks the gameplay that EA or Blades of Steel has, but combines that with interesting management.
