This game, although the players are dated is one of the best hoops games that DOS has to offer. You can play with 5 teams in the Western Conference or 5 Teams in the Eastern Conference. It goes back to the James Worthy, Magic Johnson days.
The game is in EGA 16 colour graphics, but it is very well sound, though it does not offer sound support for ADLIB or SoundBlaster Support.
I think if you like hoops games and or sports, this one is one for you.
You can even play in the National Basketball Association Tournament where you can reach the NBA Finals and work you way through. If memory serves the teams that are good in this game are Chicago, (yes, with Michael Jordan) and Detroit with the "Bad Boys" of the NBA including Dennis Rodman, (Early before the multi-hair coloured freak showed up) Bill Lambeer, and even Isiah Thomas.
I think that if you like the idea of a simulation better than you can have it set where your players will fatigue after a while. It makes sense that if you are going to run up and down the courts a lot, than you would probably get tired. This game is actually very good
at letting you substitute players out if your player gets fatigued. It goes on a scale of 5. So, if you're player starts getting at the 1 to 2 (one to two) range than you might want to pull him for substitution. One of the neatest things about this game is the graphics. Though this game is quite dated, (I think the year it came out was about the either late 80s, yes when the Celtics where actually really good) to very early 90s. I wish that it actually offered VGA graphics, but the 16 colour is not too bad.
I also think that this game offers joystick support if you have a joystick, although I found the game easier to play with the keyboard. It's easy to get a hold of the keys you push and if you want to, you can use the numeric keypad to manoeuvre your player around the court. Be careful, because the REFs are watching and if you travel with the ball you will get called for travelling. You also have to be on your game, because if you are not you will miss your all important FREE THROWS. Yes, this game offers much for an early sports game and like I said if you really like sports, this game is worth downloading.
