Moto Racer. It is an OK game if you beat all your other games and don't feel like playing them again. Delphine Software is very good. Check out their SNES titles like Flashback and Out of this World to prove it.
Moto Racer is a simple racing game. It focuses, as the title shows, motorcycle racing. Its graphics are reasonable, being that it was the first motorcyle racer of its time, being that it had things like automatic transition and manual transition choice, along with four maps.
Other maps could be unlocked, a good feature to push the player to the limits.
Though it did not have state of any physics or excellent realism, it was overall a not so bad game. I found it to be entertaining. In fact, it was a simple game that was often in waiting rooms where children needed to be entertained: this shows the versatility of such a simple, yet very, very universal game.
The four maps, Speed Bay, West Way, Snow Ride, and not to forget, Dirt Arena, were the four "always to play" maps. They were, as from their titles, each occurring in their particular "type": Speed Bay was near water, West Way was not near water, Snow Ride was more snowy than watery, and Dirt Arena was for dirt
bikes, a dusty place to jump around.
Each bike had different particularities: Acceleration, Max Speed, Grip, Brakes. Also, one could choose A-T, automatic transition, or M-T, manual transition. Several camera types were available, along with the secret maps and some downloadable from Delphine Software's site. It was, all in all, a relatively modifiable game. It looks very arcade like, which made drive people to think that it is not a modifiable game. In fact, it is quite a modifiable game and includes many different modes. How is it an arcade, though? The yellow flashing signs, the graphics and the sound make the arcade-likeliness.
There were 3 Moto Racers. Each revolved around the same basic principle: racing. Each also added a new factor, like a more lively city racing, with cars that could crash into you (or you into them). The controls were unimprovable: simply because they were so good since the beginning.
Overall, it is a good game, good controls, little replay ability, and not so bad video. Recommended? Yeah, give it a try!
