To Whom It May Concern:
NBA Jam Extreme is a very exciting and stimulating game. The graphics are new and innovating. The game instructions are somewhat hard to follow but it is much easier to play if you read through each and every one very carefully. After reading through the instructions you can learn very quickly just by playing the game through trial and error. The National Basketball Association should be proud of this game.
The NBA itself has become a mockery of what it used to stand for. The players nowadays are far more concerned with their public image and rapping than they are for the game. The NBA jam extreme game gets back to the roots of the NBA with fast paced exciting real
time basketball. None of the showboating which is so apparent in today’s NBA exists in the jam extreme game.
The dunking in the computer game reminds me of how it looks on a game system such as play station or Nintendo or Sega. The visuals look that good.
The sound effects of the game are somewhat juvenile. I think they could be approved upon with more realistic sounds such as swashes when a basket is made, cries when players run into each other on fouls, more authentic dribbling noises that sound like the ball is actually hitting the floor (it just sounds like a clunk now). The other hard part of the game is getting the hang of which buttons to push.
There are so many cues that are hard to figure out as a first time user. I would recommend watching someone that knows what they are doing play the game initially. The controls are not always what you think they should be. Like if you want to jump up one would think you would gently press the up arrow button, when actually you press the delete button. You would also think you would press the s-key if you want to sink the basketball when it is actually the down button that you should push.
Overall I think the game is good but needs a lot of work, just like the real NBA basketball game. If the players would be more concerned with the game people may actually start watching the NBA again, instead of college basketball. I don’t think the NBA should draft such young players before they can get their college degrees. I think this is why no one watches the NBA, because it is like watching a bunch of kids battles it out on a blacktop court.
