Game Review (written by Akers) Added on: 12/04/2006
This game is truly amazing fantastic graphics and outstanding gameplay. 1 or 2 player action is great the best bits about it are being able to play in the league and saving up cash to buy the fastest best player for your team. Unfortunately you don’t start with a roman abravovich cash pot thus it’s so much fun when you do actually buy that star player. First played it on the amiga 500 and still love it to this day a true classic game five star.

Each player in the team has a different position and subs you are able to select where they go and each one has stats like strength, power, speed ability, everything you can imagine. You then play a la football and score

goals against the opposition by running with the ball and tackling opposition by fouling them out and injuring their player. There are extras like getting the ball hot so the keeper is unable to save it and making your points count for more than the opponent but of course they take up more time. For example you have to send the ball around one of the side walls 2 times and then keep possession to make sure you get 20 points a goal instead of the usual 10. You can throw the ball high up in the air and catch it with your player but this makes you vulnerable to attack and gets your players easily injured. The obvious route one approach like Wimbledon in the eighties is not always the best form of attack. Neither is that of having a tricky winger running all the way and doing all the hard work as they will ultimately get injured. This all adds to the excitement and fun that speedball 2 gives. Bribing the referee for extra time to win a match and other ideas is all included.
It is basically an underground future sports event which is intended to be the sport of the future, definitely not in my life time. It is similar to other management games and of course stuff like sensible world of soccer, for the game play it’s a great mix of the both of them, thus you can't go wrong I'm even writing this report on it because of how much I love this game. It was a pioneer when it first come out as well because not many other games could live up to what this offered. If you ask any old Amiga owner if they have heard of speedball 2 you would be hard pressed to find the answer no!

A great game with several different ways to score. My personal favourite is trying to injure as many players as possible (you score 10 points for each player).

Awesome game, spent much of my young years playing this! Way ahead of its time in the gaming world and a standard bearer for gameplay till this day

I spent more hours on this game than any other Sports game ever. VERY addictive and not so easy to be the best of the best, especially if you can't fix the CPU speed issue as the gameplay gets very fast towards the end. Absolutely Recommended.

The gameplay beats off all competition from any NFL, NHL or FIFA game. Graphics still stand-up well too!

Simply no more addictive game and pretty damn original too, a little frustrating using keyboard controls but very solid game!
