Game Review (written by Hockeyboy142730) Added on: 12/02/2007
For those of you who don't know, baseball is America's greatest past time, and there's 9 players on the field at anytime. A first baseman, a second baseman, a third baseman, a shortstop, a left fielder, a center fielder, a right fielder, a pitcher, and a catcher. On the offensive side, there are 9 batters, in the National League the pitcher hits, but in the American League the pitchers have a designated hitter. The Yankees win a lot, so a lot of people like them, but that also means a lot of people hate them.
Tony Larussa is a great baseball manager, so it makes sense to make a game in honor of him, right? Sure, he's no John Madden, and Tony La Russa Baseball II is no Madden NFL video game (obviously) but it's still worth a download. If you're as a big a baseball fan as me, you'll know the names and the era, and you won't be disappointed with the rankings. The game is dead on and must have been carefully crafted by it's creators. The game is very realistic and the AI is good, but not impossible to beat. It is of course adjustable, and it takes a while to find a nice competitive level for the AI, I usually set it at a level where I get a good game each time I play, but I'll only lose 1 out of ever 20 games.
Anyways, the hitting is kind of repetitive when you get down to it, and after playing about 3 games, you'll realize that whenever you hit the ball it goes to the same places depending on what kind of hit it is. The fielding is more realistic, as your players only make between 1-3 errors each game, depending what team you are, and the ball moves realistically in the field. Shortstops and second basemen have the most ground to cover, and therefore get the majority of ground balls, but theres are much easier to field (most of the time) as opposed to first and third basemen who have to deal with the fast hit balls.
