This game was also ported to other formats such as the Commodore 64. It was released in the early nineties and features a single player mode, a two
player mode and a computer versus computer simulation.
Tony La Russa’s Ultimate Baseball was one of the most popular games of its time. It had many features that made it very desirable to baseball fans, and many of these options were inspired by other great baseball simulations, such as Earl Weaver Baseball. The game is very well balanced and features some awesome player action, as well as a statistically accurate and engaging simulation of play. Since it absolutely excels at both the arcade action play and the management part of the game, it is truly a unique experience.
Several other added bonuses make this a great choice in plays as well. Tony La Russa’s Ultimate Baseball features a fly ball cursor, which is standard today, but was a very cool and innovative aspect when the game was released. TLUB was the first computerized baseball game that would allow the player/manager to attend a fantasy draft when setting up a team. The head-to-head statistics, offering the in depth scoop on each pitcher versus each batter, was a great innovation, and it helped to offer a more accurate simulation. Even the ball parks were put together better, more accurately, and with more detail and better graphics than other games. Finally, the AI was supplied by Tony La Russa in most cases, and is very, very competent.
So get out there and download this one. You will be playing single games, complete seasons, and managing up start young teams throughout decades. The stats and game play are accurate and interesting, and there is a great balance between them for baseball managers who are looking for the total experience.
