Game Review 1 (written by Tappat) Added on: 11/09/2006
The story revolves around a battle or a contest to see who can be the last one standing. In the original Twisted Metal, the contest took place in LA, but this time around the action has moved to a worldwide venue. So, the contest begins to see who can win and survive the battle.

Twisted Metal 2 is an action game at heart with different vehicles and characters that are fighting for their lives. The game takes place in arenas, or different locations, that offer different settings for the battles to take place. There are over eight different locations for players to battle, each one offering different challenges to navigate.
The battlegrounds in Twisted Metal 2 are located all over the world. Los Angeles is still

standing -- barely -- from the last contest held in Twisted Metal. This level is relatively small, making it more difficult to get away from the other enemies; and, there is a lightning generator that you can use to your advantage. The Paris location is one of the better levels, allowing players to take advantage of the fallen tower. In the Holland level, there are some windmills that players can get into, allowing you to play a little hide and seek during the battle. One of the most difficult levels, New York, takes place on top of all the huge skyscrapers that light up the skyline. What makes New York so difficult is that you have to be careful not to fall off the edge of any of the buildings or you definitely will die! This makes for some challenging battles. Imagine camping out on the edge of a building just waiting for someone to come crashing into you, thinking that they are going to knock you off. At just that second, you move away and watch them plummet to the ground -- great effect. There are a couple other locations including Moscow and Antarctica.
What makes Twisted Metal 2 exciting are all the different types of vehicles from which to choose. This allows you to replay the game a number of times trying to figure out the best way to win with each vehicle. There are a total of 12 cars that you can choose from in the beginning of the game. These cars are very different in what they offer to the gamer. The cars are named after the people that drive them. For example, Axel is a unique vehicle in Twisted Metal 2 that can be considered the signature vehicle to the game. Axel is a prisoner of his vehicle and needs to win the races to free himself. Each car in the game has a special weapon that it uses during battle. Axel's weapon is a shockwave that expands out and hurts opponents depending on how far away they are. There are other vehicles such as Amanda, a deadly high-speed vehicle, and Simon, who has a jaw-slamming vehicle. These are just a few of the cars, with each one offering its own special weapon and attack to add more challenge to the game.
You can't have an action game of this calibre without having some awesome firepower to use. Some of the weapons are projectile weapons that can be fired at opponents. These weapons are power missiles and homing missiles. Power missiles are the most destructive missiles in the game while homing missiles are great because they will track down your target. There is also an assortment of bombs, such as the ricochet bomb, which bounces around, and the remote bomb, which is great for setting and waiting for someone to stumble upon before detonating. There are other weapons such as napalm for setting others on fire and lightning for giving someone a little shock. You get these weapons by picking them up around the different locations. They are scattered around and sometimes are placed in difficult places, requiring you to get onto or go over something to get to them. There also are some non-weapon items such as first-aid kits used to repair your damage.

Game Review 2 (written by Wolfpack99997) Added on: 11/05/2006
Twisted Metal 2, a port from the ps1 version is an excellent title. Sequels to the first where all you do is drive around and kill other vehicles with weapons. You have a wide selection of the different characters from the ice cream clown to the grim reaper. As you drive around and kill the other players, you can pick up power-ups and health. There are also various parts of the terrain that you can blow up that you can either use to your advantage or just watch some of the spoofs that was implemented into the game.
There are also a wide variety of levels, like Moscow, Paris, New York and even Antarctica. It is very fun speaking how you get to blow up various parts of the level. But beware, the AI in this game can get very smart at times and other times they’re very dumb. All in all this is a good game. I might as well start out about the graphics. I’d give the graphics an 8/10 due to the fact that they were good graphics at the time but also they can be very pixilated.
But other than that, it’s good, especially when you’re in the New York level. In the New York level you can jump from building to building with your vehicle and blow up the others before they unload their specials and missiles on you. Secondly, the sound, excellent sound effects from when you’re shooting your machine gun or your missiles are great.
Also when you die there’s this awkward screeching sound which sounds like it was made from an electric guitar. Out of 10 I’d give the sound a 9. Now about the controls - they are simple and easy to use by default but also if you don’t like the controls in the first place then you can customize them so there’s no complaint about the controls. The only real complaint about the controls is that the steering can be a little loose because sometimes he turns too fast. Control Score is 9/10. Next is the replay value. This game is highly repayable when you feel like killing time or when you’re with a friend.
Co-op mode is really fun because your friend can help you blow through all of the levels in the game. Also in single player mode, there is a different ending for each character so that you can play the game more and try to get each one of the endings. Replay value is a 10/10.

I loved it, I love it and will love it. The game itself is really good. The whole basis of the game is you get to choice different cars that all have different attributes, such as, one car may be faster than the another car or has a lot more endurance than the other. The cars and bikes come equip with their own special weapon, which you use to take out your opponent, but you can use other weapons you find in the game, such as rockets, lighting, mines. It’s really cool game.

Twisted Metal 2 is arguably one of the greatest games ever made. I have clocked in literally thousands of hours on the game. While the PC port has some flaws, most significantly lag, this obscure version of TM2 is just as strong as the PS1 version, due to its online play, superior graphics and Save/Load system. I would definitely recommend this game if you love great video games. 10/10

Ah, twisted metal two! One of those games that allowed you to come home from school and vent all your anger out on your opponents, where it was alright to blow up cars and shoot missiles
