Game Review 1 (written by Hong) Added on: 09/27/2006
This is the greatest football management simulator of all time. The depth of the game is nothing like that of the Championship Manager series (now split into Championship Manager and Football Manager) but the simplicity is what makes it addictive. Buying and selling players is as easy as it could be, you have the opportunity to adjust wages, signing on fees and bonuses as would be expected, and the transfer goes through instantly.
Stadium expansion is a feature of the game which has sometimes been overlooked in football management simulators, and although the expansion option isn’t the most imaginative ever created it is adequate, you can choose between terraced and seating, roved or open, the corners become expandable once certain standards have been met, and boxes are also available.
One of the game’s greatest assets is the speed at which it can be played, one of the annoyances of other games, having to spend days on end at the computer waiting for the next match to load. A season on Ultimate Soccer Manager Two can be completed in an hour or two, depending on how much time you want to spend on tweaking tactics and training and all the others bits on the game.
There is an easy cheat to make money, but it isn’t really necessary because if you try to buy a player, as a long as he is no more than one division above, you are guaranteed to get him. However, if you do find yourself running low on

cash, simply place one of your players on the list at nine hundred and ninety nine million, nine hundred and ninety nine thousand, nine hundred and ninety nine pounds, and wait for him to sell, it may take a while but it will happen and you will be rich.
As long as you have a fairly fit squad promotion is pretty easy from the lower leagues, and the feature of playing in Europe once at the top of the domestic leagues is a bonus for such an old game. Sadly international management is not a feature of the game but it wasn’t around on many games when Ultimate Soccer Manager was released so can’t be expected, and the game more than makes up for this in its simplicity and the range of other features. The use of an assistant manager is another useful feature which can be useful to speed up play.

Game Review 2 (written by Jumpa35) Added on: 09/05/2006
Ultimate Soccer Manager 2 is one of my favourite classic games. I spend many hours playing the latest football management games but when going back to Ultimate Soccer Manager 2 it is incredible how much detail is included. The training schedules, in-depth formations, sponsorship management and commercial decisions are all included. You also have the ability to upgrade your own ground with new stands, shops, bars and other outlets. The option to offer bungs and rig matches can also be really good fun, although you can turn this off if you wish.
Setting up your tactics includes an option to setup your own set pieces. When you start this process you have to choose a location for the set piece to be taken from then place you players and setup movements. You can specify weather the set piece taker has to pass, dribble or shoot. Once you’re done save the set piece and start another. There is no limit on how many you can have. Once in the match the in game graphics allow you to see how your team is performing and is very rewarding when one of your set pieces leads to a goal.
To make your team successful you will need to delve in to the transfer market to start buying players. Being a long time football fan this was exciting to buy players such as Cantona and Beckham. Beckham can be picked up for less than 1 Million as he is yet to make it in to the Man Und first team.
If you head in to the managers office you can pick up the phone and try to rig your next match if you are struggling in the league or its big cup game. However be careful because if the press gets wind of your dealing you will end up with the sack.
In the Chairman’s office you can choose your shirt sponsor and setup you advertising boards around your pitch. If some of the tasks become a bit boring you can always ask your assistant manager to take care of some tasks.
Playing a match is also really detailed and you can quickly work out your team strengths and weaknesses. My favourite part of this game comes after the match when you get to see some of the developer’s cheesy humour in the paper articles about your previous match.
In summary Ultimate Soccer Manager 2 is still a great game to play with some different and clear options in management.

Ultimate soccer manager 2 is a football management game. It is a great game involving you to become a manager of a football team. Its hard to be a manager with all the highs and lows but this games makes it really interesting, it has tidy graphics on the menu it has a great game simulator. The sounds are quite nice too. As I was saying, your job is to be a manager trying to do the goals and achievements the board set you, if you dont meet the minimum targets you might be in trouble! This is a great addition to your football game collection.

Fabulous game! I never get bored when playing it. It's a very well developed game, although 10 years old now. I can only run it with my old dos-based computer, luckily I didn't carry it to the garbage!

That was the good game of my best football games ever played. I hope that new generation football games can also be enjoyable as those former ones
