I love this game. It is so much like other RPG games that I have played in the past, only without the cliché easiness of conquer like the rest. It provides a definite challenge, especially trying to build up a solid army so that you may attack the other tribes and such. The ships are my favourite, but I also enjoy using ground attacks as well. It teaches a good value of resource usage and proper management as well as providing a fun environment in which you may battle, run a city, and work for the resources necessary.
While under attack, it is often enjoyable to take the troops and rally them up, but not in such a way as to get them killed, as this will end your career in a hurry. Although the graphics run slow on my old PC computer, they run quite well on my newer computer and provide a realistic environment in which you are able to really get into the game. The voices of the people also allow you to reach a connection within your troops, and a sense of need to protect them, but also a confidence in them in which you are able to attack other troops. By far one of the best games I have ever played in my life.
The atmosphere
set in the old medieval times allows for a great sense of adventure, as this is a commonly known time among many western nations of excitement and courage. These two things are definitely intertwined into the game, the excitement of battle, along with the courage of allowing yourself to lead your troops into battle and come out with a VICTORY! The process of obtaining resources adds an extra bit of challenge to the game, it allows for proper management of what one has to work with, so that the player isn’t able to simply create a massive dynasty which can destroy everything in its path, as is the problem with several of the role playing games of today. “Ashes of empire” is definitely a top notch game which I would recommend to anybody. It has all of the entertainment that a Role Playing Game should have, it is captivating in the sense that you want to play it more and more and MORE! And it is also semi-educational as it allows the person to take a step back into time and see the ways in which battles were fought before machine guns and airplanes.
