Game Review (written by Mike77035) Added on: 09/17/2006
This game is great. I used to play it on my computer that ran on Windows 3.1. To stop it from being shared they made you enter a password from the bottom of one of the pages in the manual. The game starts out with an easy introduction that teaches you the game mechanics and slowly adds more elements.
This game isn’t just about ants; it has just about every insect you can think of from wasps to rhinoceros beetles. Not only that but certain bugs can throw things such as bombs, dynamite, rocks, even stinky cheese.
The game ranges in locales of battle as well. Picnic grounds, the kitchen sink, even the basement are all things you will see. There are lots of different foods in the game. Often times you’ll need to old an item of food long enough to raise your flag on it. A mission objective may be to take a piece of pizza and three pepperonis before your opponent. Food is also part of the terrain.
You’ll have to march across jelly, slowing you down significantly, or find an alternate route around a sandwich that blocks your path. The game is much more in depth than you’d expect from a DOS game. You can even set the range of how close another bug can come

to one of yours before yours attacks. The game includes a very extensive and long campaign. The ability to save makes it possible to complete. Even on a save file you can go back and play previous levels that you enjoyed.
There are mission briefings before some levels that tell you what you need to do, as told by a large general ant pointing to a projector on a toilet paper roll. As if the missions weren’t enough, you can also play multiplayer. I’m not aware of any online play as they didn’t have that when this game was made, but you can play hot seat with one computer. One player tells his bugs what to do then get up and lets the other player command his.
Press the play button and watch the bugs battle it out. At any time either player can stop the battle and give the bugs new commands. All this is controlled by a stopwatch at the bottom that keeps track of both players’ limited time. The game also features a radar type mini map so you can view the battle from above. The only thing I can think of that this game is missing is a way to create new bugs mid-level, other than that, this game is flawless. Highly recommended!
