Caesar is an all around great game and has a lot to offer for those of us who love strategy or role playing games. The graphics are fairly good and bring a lot to the game play. The object of the game is to work your way up the political and social ladder in ancient Rome. It's pretty much SimCity, but with an ancient roman twist to it. Personally, I like this game more than SimCity. Descent for an older game, I enjoy it quite a bit.
By improving your city as a governor, you improve your rank and eventually reach the highest position of all: Caesar. You can build a multitude of things. Granaries, vineyards, farms, barracks, aqueducts, towers, and housing are just a few things you can build. The interface is pretty straight forward and simple to use; if you have any problems there are always advisors who can help you along.
By gaining success in culture, empire, peace, and prosperity, you progress through the game. You also have to watch out for the wrath of the gods, so don't make them too angry! Build temples and have festivals to get around this. Another challenge you face is the attack from enemies and sickness in your province, among other things. You must also
keep your population happy with arenas, theaters, and plenty of food and drink to go around. Encourage prosperity among your population; Another major aspect of this game is the trading between neighboring provinces.
One of my all time favorite games. It's a great way to kill time and not to do your homework. I remember playing this game non-stop when I was a kid. Basically, if you enjoy a good modern strategy or role playing game, but are tired of paying monthly subscriptions or the high price to improve your Random Access Memory, updating your graphics card, or getting yourself a new processor, get this game.
It's worth the download. I'd recommend it to anyone in their teens or twenties or even younger kids could get into it. I always think of this game as Civilization (played as a Roman), but on a single city scale. A great play for an older game. Caesar offers it all from war to peace, to feast to famine, to sickness to health, to gods to goddesses, you name it, and Caesar’s got it!
