This game was originally designed by Fogstone games and produced by Quantum Quality Productions. Conquered Kingdoms is a game in which you do exactly what the title implies. You battle your way to become the most powerful sovereign in the lands.
The game is a turn-based strategy which continues to challenge the player by providing many different battles. The game stays interesting due to the different aspects of it and continues to challenge the player. These different scenarios also allow the player to try different strategies, for example you can load up on melee characters and charge into battle or stand back while your magical characters lay waste to the enemy.
Since it was created specifically for the computer, it plays smoothly and the levels work with the different aspects that a computer offers, such as your mouse and keyboard compared to a single controller. I especially liked the time requirements for this game. You can customize it as to how many rounds you wish to play, thus deciding how long the game will take. Only have time for a short game before studying? No worries as you can choose when it ends.
The graphics are as expected for a game made in this era but they accomplish their job and actually provide some relatively strong detail. Tired of being able to shoot that bad guy in the arm continuously as he hides behind a pillar?
You won’t get that in this game as the surprisingly complex AI moves unpredictably causing you to react to many unique situations that are not easily anticipated. While trying to figure out the AI you also have to manage your armies as well as your resources in a way that doesn’t leave anything unprotected while maintaining some rainy day resources so you can adapt to different attacks. The winner is whoever manages to conquer as many towns and castles as possible before the time runs out. If you get bored of playing against the AI there is also the option of challenging friends via the internet. Figure your own unique techniques and use them to smash your enemies to smithereens. Great game for ages 14 and up.
Overall it’s a fun game that should not be overlooked. It’s a must for anyone with a soft spot for strategy games.
