Game Review (written by Peter3) Added on: 03/13/2007
Did you ever thought that all species in the world are critically endangered?..
This game is some kind of strategy in which you start your playing with critters (primitive microorganisms). During gameplay you may evolve to such ones, as saber-toothed cats, dinosaurs, early birds and so on. Even to the homo sapiens! And, even, to the some made-up creatures, which you will not found in the Big Biological Vade-mecum! This could be a good start for Darwin’s theory followers.
The main goal of this game is to make your creatures able to survive in the world and to follow them through such natural disasters, as volcanic eruptions, earthquakes and ice ages, species wars (multiplayer game, you can play against five AI or human players) by manipulating climate, habitat, food supplies and geology.
By the way, all creatures are different by their character – some of them are peaceful, the other ones are rather violent. So don’t think, that your Victorian path would be so easy!
In this game you start with the Carboniferous Era. When you raise your colony to a certain level of power, it divides into two parts, and so on…
In addition to the so-called Campaign there are some other – shorter scenarios (which are designed for a few hours real-time play) – Paleozoic, Mesozoic and Cenozoic. Normal game may take 6 hours of real time…
The game was originally developed in 1988. Its graphics include near 160 incredibly detailed and animated characters. The soundtrack

is also great – all creatures make their own noises and different sounds.

I loved playing the demo of this game when I was a kid, on my slow '98 PC. A classic game!

Great game! I love the idea behind this. It's a little bit slow for me, but I got used to it quick.

I really wasnt all that fond of this game. The graphics didnt excite me all that much but werent as bad as i expected. ive always like games were you get to see your character grow step by step and this is definetly one of those games. i like to watch and be a part of how my character enhances his attributes and traits. I like how the game starts you off. Just a little creature trying to stay alive foreging for food and eventually become pretty much an oversized monstrosity that will devour everything in its path.
