Game Review 1 (written by Biggunnz62) Added on: 09/25/2006
This game is awesome. It's a revamped to the old Lord's of the Realm 2, but much, much better. If you like Lords 2 you will love this. The game play takes you through a fantasy medieval world as opposed to the original. The game-play is slightly different and the graphics have improved a lot. You can follow one of six story lines / races through their "historic" adventures. One of them follows Tennyson's "Idylls of the King". There are some way cooler features and armies to rise.

There are different types of monsters and fortresses for each race. Your alignment depends on race as do your friends and enemies. All in all it is a game you will love to play. You can even play freelance if you want and not follow the story line. In that way it is kind of like civilization where you can play on earth or create your own world. I bought this game originally and leant it to my cousin who ended up messing up the disk and I haven't thought about it for years until I saw it on this site. Now I’m so glad that I decided to become a member because they have some of the coolest games out there

Game Review 2 (written by Neshi) Added on: 08/16/2006 Impressions come through. What a great game that combines myth, legend, and a turn-based style strategy game into a huge success. While it is true that the game did have some bugs at the beginning, which led to its demise, however this edition is full and only contains a few minor bugs.
The game is broken down into eight basic faiths: elemental which includes fire, water, air, and earth; along with order, life, chaos, and death ( you can only play as death after defeating death). The thing that makes this game interesting is that it is multidimensional. Not only do you have to worry about marauding armies (which can get annoying) and your enemies armies, you also have to watch out for spies and take care of your own (thieves become increasingly important as they can steal items and capture people). Another aspect of the game that makes it interesting is the auto-calc. Many players don’t like auto-calc but its a good way to hurry a game up that is taking too long. You may loose more life or an extra unit but you also don’t have to wait for the loading screen and fight the battle.
One of the most important things about the game is artifacts. Some are incredibly powerful, instilling more manna, health, or attack; they can also improve thieving abilities and grant users extra ones. Spells are also very important. Obtaining spells is difficult as one has to research them, the higher level spells take hundreds of man days. However instilling your recruits with extra experience by upgrading your mage tower and sending experienced men in can help tons.
Lastly don’t overlook trading and friendliness. Everyone starts out with at least one somewhat friendly player. Use that player for both trading and obtaining rare artifacts. Not all artifacts can be used by all races, so maybe a gift of your artifact now will help you down the road. Also be careful about what tone you set while bartering. The tone you set could help you get what you need, but also leave a sour taste in a potential ally’s mouth. Be careful with the things you ask for.
Great game worth hours of fun, and with extra quests and many dungeons, you can drag the game out into hundreds of turns!

This is the original demo of Lords of Magic: Special Edition from 1998.
Cherokeelady14 (02/07/2009) I love this game-I had it when I was in 4th grade, and kept at it till I was in like 7th. It is an awesome rts with great graphics for its time, and a lot to keep you entertained.
Koreymatthew (01/18/2009) I remember playing this in high school and I loved the map editing attributes. There were a few glitches in the version that I owned, but all in all it provided me with hours of great game-play!
Strangejeffrey (11/29/2008) I love it! Even now I return to this game for good old fashioned fun! They just don't make them like they used to. Not too complicated so you can play just before bed when you're exhausted. Hours of fun. Great repeat player.
Zlucient1 (05/25/2008) This was a fun game with varied battles. The life race was easily the best as the archers were just so powerful. The air race was my 2nd favorite and also very powerful, followed by order and earth.
Howard (05/17/2008) This game rocks. Used to play it a long time ago, want to get back into it now. I still remember it from years ago. That’s how good an imprint in your mind it will leave!
Burnttoast30 (01/20/2008) Great game. Timeless fun. I never got tired of it.
Silent_hitokiri (01/10/2008) The game is a very fun, especially with the map editor allows you to make different maps to play.
Denver (12/05/2007) This game is marvelous! The graphics are cool and story line is interesting!
Azreal12 (11/14/2007) This was and still is a great game.
Heliodromus (04/30/2007) For its time, Lords of Magic was an exceptional example of the turn-based strategy genre. Its graphics are now outdated, but given its age, it is nevertheless tolerable still and compensated by the terrific game-play and detail. I still remember fondly the particular quirks of the over-world map.
Matt becker (04/15/2007) I played it once on a friend's computer years ago and loved it.
Keiran bock (03/11/2006) i like dewarfs and elfs, dewarfs are good at combat and elfs are good at bows
