The graphics are rather nice for the time, though with limited animation. You get to see a projectile come from your unit but little more. That aside, it is a visually pleasant experience.
The clean and clear units march, well rather they slide over a beautifully detailed a varying terrain. The music adds a degree of the epic to your battlefield as the sounds of your war-machine echo as you press on your objectives.
The combat is where it is at though. With a large selection of vehicles open to you and your opponent, it is key to find just the right unit at just the right location to take out your target. To help you with this, each attack is marked by an estimated loss for both sides. The enemy AI is no slouch either (though this is adjustable) and is as eager getting into the action as you are.
The scenario editor allows you to take your favorite map and make it your own. Choose the climate and weather. Set how long you want the battle to drag on for and who controls the sky. Pick any scenario or map as your playground, plotting two sides against each other. From there, add up to four armies to do battle for either East or West. Each army can contain units from up to five countries, setting one main country and her allies. Pick from 13 different forces to round out your units and prepare to slaughter all who stand in your way.
There are many scenarios and campaigns to choose from, and a very user friendly scenario editor that allows for easy tweaking of your favorite maps. All in all, People General-Dynasty General more than fulfills the strategy enthusiast's needs, combining in depth game play and customization with easy to use controls. This is a must have game for anyone who enjoys turn based strategy games and modern combat.
