This game was awesome and addictive. I have often found myself playing this game for hours at a time. I am a big fan of strategy games and this is one of the most classic strategy games ever made. The franchise is well known, going back to the late eighties and early nineties. This game is just as addicting as the original and can consume my time for hours, just like the original. You basically take ship around the Caribbean and take out other ships.
They can be Pirate ships or ships belonging to European countries. By doing this you gain gold and reputation (this can be good or bad, depending on who you are fighting).
The sea battles are the most exciting part of the game and where most of the action occurs, but you can also go to ports (assuming you are friendly with that port) and purchase upgrades for your ship and get new crewmembers. You also gain information on other pirates and where they may be hiding out and on the routes of various ships that may be of interest to you, like treasure ships.
The graphics, sound and interface are an improvement over the older game and makes for a more enjoyable

experience. The animations add to the game experience as well. So, if you are a fan of strategy games and have not tried this game yet, I would recommend getting our boots wet and getting this game. You will find the franchise at the top 10 of most lists for the top game franchises of all time. The game has an appeal similar to The Sims, in that it can be played by older folks like me and by the younger generation and you don't have to be the typical gamer (male in your mid twenties) to enjoy it.
Each time you play it, you seem to get a different experience and each time you try to make your career as a Pirate a more successful one. If you like games like Sim City or The Sims, then I think you will like this game. I would give it an overall score of 8/10.
