The first time I ever played Star Reach, was back when it first came out. I was very surprised by the graphics, as well as the sounds of the time. I remember it being very challenging as an 8 year old, and at the same time, very fun. I think I want to play it now to bring back old times, as well as provide myself with a challenging and time-consuming fun game. Also, I am curious to see how well I do now, compared to when I was a younger kid.
As far as game play of the time, Star Reach created a very unique game style that still intrigues me to this day. I was always the humans, and they were all that I played. My brother and I would play multiplayer constantly, and he would always seem to beat me. I didn’t get the controls as much as he did, and that’s another reason I wanted to play this game again. My brother still claims he could beat me anytime at this game, so I want to prove to him that I can beat him.
Otherwise, every time I hear star reach, it brings me back to the days where we would spend all day trying to figure
out the game. I have developed a need for this game now, and without it I will not fulfill a goal I’ve have for awhile now. My fondest memory of the game is a multiplayer map that I had been playing with my brother for awhile.
He controlled the entire galaxy, but I had built up our defenses so much on one mineral rich planet, that each time we sent ships to the planet, he couldn’t penetrate them. I would destroy him in an instant. We played for hours upon hours and finally gave up. Later that year, we tried to finish the game, but we both could do nothing. So eventually we gave it up. Later on, when we tried to finish the level again, we found out that Star Reach had been deleted from our computer, and both of us were stunned.
I would overall give the game now 8 out of 10. It offered a unique game style, and also developed my sense of strategy as a young child, all the while increasing my imagination. It also had good graphics for its time. But the music kind of took away from the experience, as it was quite repetitive, but with the sound down, and with my mind positive, I will always be looking forward to a fun experience playing Star Reach.
