Star Command Revolution is a real-time strategy game that was released in 1996 for DOS. It is actually a fresh and interesting game that had interesting concepts. It was unfortunate that it was overshadowed by Starcraft, a strategy game that was released in 1998.
The game is set in outer space and four races are fighting over the precious mineral solinite. Solinite is an essential material that is used in ship building. In the game, you will be collecting Solinite as well as the other material that is essential for your race to build its own ships.
This material is unique to your race so to build ships and strengthen your group you must mine Solinite and the other essential mineral.
There are two modes of playing for the Star Command Revolution. In the campaign mode, the players must complete the mission of killing the dreadnaughts and the Warlord Narvek. The campaign mode is played in more than 30 sectors in the game which you can visit through the map. As you complete a sector, new abilities are added to your ships.
In the stand-alone battles, you go against the three other races in a battle map. These modes are also available for multi-player. Although in the campaign mode, two players have to work together against enemy forces and the two players must agree
on who will get the resources. If the players can’t agree then this could mean inability to work cooperatively.
One of the best features of the game is the number of ships that will be available to you in the course of the game. In the beginning there are only a few ships available to players but you will be given access to the different ships as you complete different sectors and as you gain more resources. You can find success when you sue a little strategy in the types of ships you build. You must have a good combination of ships so that you can have an efficient system. You need to be able to gather resources, and defend your territories as well. There is no single “powerhouse” ship, you need to be able to use a good combination of the different ships for your purpose.
This is a wonderful strategy game that I recommend for download to anyone interested in great strategy games. This game is a great classic that is very fun to play.
