Game Review (written by Bryang002) Added on: 01/16/2007
Back in the day this game was so addicting and the problem is, it still is. The game has so much real factual information that it makes playing the game really cool.
I actually did some investigating and found out that a lot of the battles and commanders in this game were consistent with actual events. Some other Civil War games always pit Gen. Grant vs. Gen. Lee, or Sherman or whoever, Dagger Interactive Technologies, Inc. took the time to study up and give you the match-ups as they played out.
You don't find that kind of factual content in most games these days. Games like Madden, NFL 2K6 or MLB games never have complete correct rosters, this game has them all.
Landscapes, obstacles and everything; very realistic situations make this game great. The scenarios are also very fun, it’s just not all, hey look, they took the field, and let’s get them. The controls however a little cumbersome but none the less, you'll love this game.
Along with the controls, some of the graphics, sounds and interfaces leave something to be desired but the game itself makes up for that. The game engrosses you with battle after battle that you don't notice the annoyances too often, its only after a bad defeat does that

start seeping in, oh well... sometimes you win and sometimes you lose, there is no need to take it out on the game, right?
I've seen some past reviews about the "worst game ever" hardly, yes this game has its nuances but it’s not that bad. Most games had these same problems and yes, the inconsistency of rules does make it annoying, the completeness of the battles and characters makes it worth it.
Don't be worried about the re-writing of drives, I've never had that problem so I doubt you will... it seems like a scattered problem.
Overall, this game is good for what it is.... a game developed over 10 years ago. The information is great, the user interface and graphics not so much. It’s funny and addicting to play because there is so much information and so many battles to fight.
I continue to play it to this day, well after many years of not playing I picked it up and I'm having as good of a time as ever before. So, see for yourself get the game, destroy the South or North if you’re so inclined.
