Game Review (written by Bally100) Added on: 09/27/2006
This game is not in any way a history lesson or should be viewed as one, it is a game for pure enjoyment especially those who have an interest in middle age warfare, or believing they have the military ability of Wellington ‘granted not middle ages but a great leader never the less’. It is a game that combines economic investment, a keen strategic mind and the integrity to know when to walk away ‘run away’ from a battle to live to fight another day.

This game allows up to six players which can create 2 different scenarios long nights at home fighting amongst friends or using your wits against the wily computer. As the game gets under way you find your self invading neighbouring territories and plundering their wealth, building mines for raw materials, managing the economy and most importantly building your castle. It must be noted that this is not a RPG ‘role playing game’, it is a strategic turn based game which adds to the suspense as you see that not only does the opposition have a better strategy than you but they are working their way to your kingdom and they have your name on the back of a bloody war torn axe.

troops are very important in this game and in real life as you wouldn’t storm a castle without a few catapults pulling the walls down but alas it is not that easy as every weapon has its counters and believe it or not catapults do and they are the archers on the walls killing the men loading the catapults so the idea is to outnumber you enemy, unless you feel you can create ‘Agincourt’ in every battle you fight.
As in real life nothing is for free so get taxing you population as searching for the raw materials that were mentioned requires money and guess what so does raising as army. As in any army it needs to rest this is a good way to help keep your army moral up and it will make them less fatigued which as in real life will work against you as a tired solider is a defeated soldier the more refreshed they are the more likely they are to triumph in battle.
So if any of you have played Kingdom of England you will have a good understanding of how this game is played and you will love it as it will provide hours of endless fun. Enjoy the game you won’t be disappointed.
