Warzone is one of the best games out there. If you think it’s like a Command and Conquer game, you’re wrong. This game is in full 3D and has many unique qualities that make it different from any Command and Conquer game I ever played. One it is in full 3D, two it has a good learning curve, three it has customizability, four only one resource to control.
The first time I played WZ (short for Warzone) I admired the beautiful 3D world and crisp graphics.
I have never seen a game that compares the shear beauty of a seamless landscape, for a game of its time anyway, that seems to absorb you into the game. Even the sound effects make you feel as if you are right there on the battle field. Although the music can get a bit repetitive, there are only three songs, it matches the atmosphere and doesn’t distract you from the game.
The game is set in a post-apocalyptic future where a massive catastrophe took place. The NASDA system, which was placed in orbit around Earth as a defense, went haywire and launched nuclear missiles on every capitol. Not many survived the nuclear holocaust but most that did became scavengers. One group happened upon an abandoned military
facility and establishes The Project to rebuild the world and search for lost technology.
The best part of the game is the ability to create up to 2000 customized units from tanks to hovercrafts to air vehicles. As you progress through the game you can create better heavier armored units. Be aware though that heavier is not always better. Although the heavier units are better armored they are slow and very expensive and slow to produce. I find that the heavier units are best kept as base defense.
Another great thing about the game is during the campaign you keep all your structures and vehicles, except when you get to the next chapter but you do get to keep all of the custom vehicles you create so when you want to build them again you can. This lets you continue to build your base over time but you also need to place base defenses strategically or risk having a badly defended base. Each campaign has a map that is divided into different sections which you will have to bring a group of units on a transport to them. On missions like these you can continue research and build more units to bring there or prepare for the next mission.
